Maritime Course - Marine Terminals

The purpose of this maritime course is to introduce landside cargo handling and related activities at marine terminals while considering jurisdictional enforcement considerations between federal OSHA and OSH. The objective is to provide an overview of the 29 CFR 1917 - Marine Terminals, jurisdiction responsibilities and how to apply them in the inspection process. The topics covered include marine terminal standards, marine terminal hazards, accident/injury statistics, containerized cargo, roll-on/roll-off (R0-R0) operations, and equipment nomenclature. Course highlights include a cargo handling operations orientation exercise at an active marine terminal.
