Workplace Violence Inspections

This memo from the Assistant Director provides guidance for the use of OSHA CPL 02-01-058, Enforcement Procedures and Scheduling for Occupational Exposure to Workplace Violence.  North Carolina is not "adopting" this directive, which replaces CPL 02-01-052, for use; however, it may be used as a guidance document if necessary. The directive is attached to this memo.

CPL 02-01-058 differs from CPL 02-01-052 by: clarifying the types of healthcare settings where workplace violence is reasonably foreseeable; expands high risk industries to include correctional facilities and taxi driving; identifies additional resources for CSHOs; explains OSHA's review process for settlement agreements; and updates guidance on the issuance of Hazard Alert Letters (HALs).
