OTI #1310 - Investigative Interviewing Techniques

This is a core course for compliance personnel; its goal is to provide practical interviewing methods and techniques. The specific training topics covered during this course include interviewing preparation, nonverbal communication, types of questions, empathy, active listening skills, and influencing skills. In addition, the use of speed, pacing, immediacy, concreteness, and assertion skills are emphasized. A critical teaching technique utilized during this course is roleplaying, which provides students an opportunity to be assessed on the application of the interviewing methods and techniques discussed in the classroom. The roleplaying focuses on one-on-one controlled interviewing situations, as well as real-life challenges that compliance officers face during the course of an interview.
