This directive provides guidance concerning the application of occupational safety and health standards in shipyard employment. This document only applies to public sector. Revisions in this directive, which cancels CPL 02-00-157, includes: updated references to new and existing documents and electronic links; updated guidance regarding the applicability of 1910 standards to shipyard employment worksites; updated answers to commonly asked shipyard employment questions and incorporates recently issued interpretations and final regulations.
Also reference NCAC 5 - The final rules at 29 CFR 1915 - Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Shipyard Employment and 29 CFR 1917 - Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Marine Terminals are incorporated by reference into the North Carolina Administrative Code and apply only to public sector employees of local governments of the State of North Carolina.
