Enforcement Guidance for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in Shipyard Employment

This directive, which cancels CPL 02-01-049, provides guidance concerning the application of current enforcement policy and procedures for personal protective equipment (PPE) in shipyard employment and ensures consistent enforcement of 29 CFR Part 1915, Subpart I, PPE including PPE payment for shipyard employment activities. This directive applies in North Carolina only to public sector employers and employees. Changes in this directive include references that have been updated or added; plus an added hazard assessment provision. 

Reference NCAC 5 - The final rules at 29 CFR 1915 - Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Shipyard Employment and 29 CFR 1917 - Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Marine Terminals are incorporated by reference into the North Carolina Administrative Code and apply only to public sector employees of local governments of the State of North Carolina.
